I was lucky enough to have visited Uncle Dave in Scotland twice! As I got to know him through the years, I learned that he was a very humble man who lived a very simple, but social life. When he showed us his favourite places in Scotland, there were people everywhere that knew him and were excited to see him. Whenever we spoke on the phone, he always showed a genuine interest in how I was doing. I think his caring and kind words made everyone feel important and valued. He will continue to remind me to be kind to everyone I meet as he was to everyone he met. I feel very fortunate to have gotten to know him in the time that I did.

In the little time I got to know Uncle Dave, he immediately made an impression on me. He was kind and thoughtful, always remembering to send me a birthday or Christmas card. One time, when my family and I went to visit him in Scotland, I was so surprised by how many people knew him. In thinking about Uncle Dave, I think about the importance of being kind. I think about cherishing the time you have with loved ones and remembering to reach out to one another. I also think about keeping some candy in my pocket, because you never know when someone might need a little sweet. I am so lucky to have known him.

I was fortunate enough to have gotten to know Uncle Dave through the years married to his nephew. He was a wonderful man, always remembering to ask about my mom and such. He also knew how I loved the highland cattle and always made sure to get me my annual calendar for my office! A very sweet sweet man and I’m so glad that our children had the privilege of knowing him.
